It’s been quite a year since our last Acre by Acre. Staff changes, refocusing, and new partnerships are allowing NWALT to be nimbler and more efficient…and to save more land! Last year we honored the conservation legacy of our founding board members whose vision has been refined and implemented for 21 years. In that time, we’ve saved more than 8,300 acres of land across nearly 50 properties in Northwest Arkansas.
This year’s event will be the best one yet! In keeping with the spirit of our Conservation Legend Award, we’ve added two new categories of honorees- NWALT’s Partner of the Year and Conservation Stewardship Award. These awards honor individuals or organizations that have been instrumental to our work and greater conservation efforts in the region and the state. This year’s honorees are Terri Lane- Arkansas Conservation Legend, Adventure Subaru- Partner of the Year, and Jennifer and Isaac Ogle- Conservation Stewardship Awardees.
This year we’re excited to announce that local band The Sons of Otis Malone will perform at our happy hour, sponsored by Underwood Fine Jewelers. With influences from bluegrass to country/western and Americana, they capture the spirit of Northwest Arkansas. They’re just good people too!
Also recently announced is our guest speaker, Rex Nelson. Rex is an Arkansas native and award-winning columnist, author, speaker, and sportscaster who serves as senior editor of the Northwest Arkansas-Democrat Gazette. Rex knows how to spin a yarn, and we are thrilled he will be part of the event.
Acre by Acre will be held at the Smokehouse on October 10th from 6-9 PM. All proceeds go towards our 10k4NWA campaign to forever protect 10,000 acres in Northwest Arkansas. This year’s goal is to raise $50,000 towards our mission.
